Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

Matthew 12:36 I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, 37 for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

Proverbs 15:1 A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Proverbs 16:24 Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.

In 1994 a Japanese scientist Dr. Masaru Emoto conducted an experiment and proved something really amazing – your words physically change the world around you. I think the preceding Bible verses speak to this very clearly.

The experiment, as do most scientific studies, involved two groups, but these were not two groups of people, it was two groups of water bottles, yes water bottles. There were people involved, but the main subjects were bottles of water. He had students in the presence of one group of water bottles speak words of hate and anger while the other group of water bottles were in the presence of students speaking words of kindness, like I love you and thank you.

The water from each group was then frozen and viewed under a microscope. The results were amazing, the water that was in the presence of hateful words of anger crystalized into chaotic random distorted patterns, while the water in the presence of words of kindness and love crystalized into breathtaking snowflake like beautiful patterns. (See the photos)

You might ask so, what does that have to do with me? Your body is made up of 70% water. Imagine what those harsh words could be doing to your body and others that you may be speaking to. “Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.” Therefore, “Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up,”

May your words promote health to your body and to those around you and comfort to the soul.
